Sophie’s Angel Run, Inc.

Sophie’s Angel Run was founded in memory of our angel, Sophia Grace Meinhardt. Sophie was an energetic little girl who brought a smile to everyone’s  face. In her honor, Sophie’s Angel Run was established to help change the outcome of children diagnosed with brain tumors through pediatric research and to keep her memory alive through an educational scholarship fund.

OUR MISSION
Sophie’s diagnosis and death were a tragedy. However, Sophie’s 18-months of life on earth were not. Anyone that knew Sophie knew she was full of life. Sophie never stopped moving during her 18 months on earth.

Our family became determined to do whatever we could to prevent other families from suffering from this devastating diagnosis and disease and to celebrate her life.

Each September, we hold a memorial 5K Run/Walk in Sophie’s honor called Sophie’s Angel Run. The goals of this event are:

  • To raise awareness of lack of funding for Pediatric Brain Tumor Research
  • Raise money for Pediatric Brain Tumor Research projects.  Previous projects include:
    • Preclinical Testing of High-Grade Glioma investigated by Dr. Lionel Chow, MD, PhD and Dr. Ronald Waclaw, PhD at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.
    • Institutional prospective pediatric autopsy study investigated by Dr. Mariko DeWire, MD at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.
  • Keep Sophie’s Memory alive through educational scholarships.
  • Help our family and immediate community through the grieving process

OUR PHILOSOPHY
To become BETTER rather than bitter from Sophie’s death and to help change the outcome of children diagnosed with brain tumors.
